Meet Monique

Hello! I’m Monique, a Brazilian-Canadian artist based in the vibrant city of Montreal. Born in the beautiful Rio de Janeiro, I made the move to Canada when I was 27 years old, embracing the rich cultural diversity that both countries offer.

My artistic journey is deeply rooted in my passion for vibrant colors and abstract art. I specialize in commissioned artwork and have had the privilege of showcasing my pieces in various exhibitions. Each creation reflects my unique style, where I explore the interplay between emotions and the beauty of nature.

I draw immense inspiration from the works of iconic artists such as Joan Mitchell, Willem de Kooning, and Mark Rothko. Their bold use of color and expressive brushwork resonate deeply with my own artistic vision, encouraging me to push the boundaries of abstraction and emotion in my work.

Art runs in my family, and I also find inspiration from my heritage. My grandmother, Emilia Nobre, is an exceptional artist known for her stunning depictions of nature and flowers. My mother, Luisa Emilia, was also an outstanding artist and photographer, whose creativity continues to inspire me every day. I dedicate my work to her, honoring the artistic legacy that has been passed down through generations.

Through my art, I strive to capture the essence of emotions and the world around us, inviting viewers to experience the vibrant stories that colors can tell. Thank you for joining me on this artistic journey!
